A beacon will be lit at Packington Moor, near Lichfield, at 6pm on Monday 28th February, as part of a co-ordinated protest against the proposed high speed train link known as HS2 and you are invited to be a part of this admission FREE event.
Over 30 Communities along the length of the proposed route from Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Staffordshire will burn beacons to coincide with the launch of the Government’s public consultation.
The Beacons, which will all be lit at 6pm, will be burnt to bring attention to the irreversible damage that HS2 will inflict on communities and countryside, and the expense it will cause to tax payers for generations.
Lichfield Action Group and Whittington Parish Community Stop HS2 Action Group are combining their efforts to help organise the beacon along with John Barnes, who farms at Packington Moor, and his daughter Grace, who runs the farm shop.
Packington Moor will be demolished to make way for HS2.
